Eipdidymal Cysts

Epididymal cysts are a common finding in men. They usually develop in adults aged over 40.  The epididymis is a structure that is situated adjacent to the testicle and connects the testicle to the vas (as in a vasectomy).  An epididymal cyst typically contains clear fluid but on occasions can contain sperm.  These cysts can become large in size and as a consequence may cause discomfort or simply get in the way.  They generally have no malignant potential and unless they are symptomatic, they do not necessarily require treatment.  In some instances, a needle aspiration or surgical excision of the cyst may be performed.
