Bladder Cancer

Bladder cancer is one of the less commonly known cancers.  Initial symptoms may include blood in the urine but sometimes it is detected on imaging studies including ultrasound or CT scan.  A cystoscopy procedure is usually undertaken to confirm the diagnosis.  Using a telescope, your urologist will visually examine the inside of your bladder.  In most cases, bladder cancer can be treated endoscopically.  In more advanced cases, the bladder would need to be removed.  This procedure is called a cystectomy.
