Dr Muhammad Kahloon

FRACS (AUS), FRCS (UK), FCS (SA), MBBS

Dr Muhammad Kahloon started the Capital Urology Centre in 2015 after moving to Canberra from Mackay, Queensland.

The Capital Urology Centre offers a broad range of urological services and care.  Dr Kahloon is accredited to operate at several hospitals in the ACT including Calvary John James Private Hospital, National Capital Private Hospital, The Canberra Hospital, and Calvary Public Hospital.  He is actively involved in teaching junior staff members, trainee registrars and medical students.

Beyond all general urological procedures, he has extensive experience in laser surgery as it relates to both urinary stones and prostate surgery and he is well versed in laparoscopic urological surgery. He has a strong interest in urological oncology, both upper and lower urinary tract cancers.

He is one of only a few specialists in Canberra trained in the use of the Da Vinci robotic system.   Minimally invasive robotic surgery is becoming increasingly popular in Australia. In urology most commonly, the Da Vinci robot is used to perform radical prostatectomies as well as complex kidney surgery and is popular for a variety of reasons including less blood loss during surgery, shorter hospital stays and quicker functional recovery.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and member of the Urological Society of Australia & New Zealand (USANZ) and the Australian Medical Association (AMA). He travels overseas regularly to provide medical care to charitable organisations in numerous developing countries.
